Çalık Enerji, has reached an important milestone in terms of transmitting the electric energy generated in Turkmenistan to neighboring countries, as instructed by Turkmenistan President.
A memorandum of understanding between Ministry of Energy of Turkmenistan and Çalık Holding has been signed by the Chairman of our Board of Directors Mr. Ahmet Çalık and Minister of Energy of Turkmenistan Mr. Çarymyrat Hywalyýewiç on 31.01.2018 in Ashkhabad, in order to realize the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan (TAP) electricity transmission line project which is added to the agenda in this regard and planned to be parallel with the TAPI Gas Pipeline Project.
Signing this memorandum will accelerate the processes of financial, technical, commercial and legal works for the project, intergovernmental agreements, negotiations to be made by Çalık Holding with these 3 states and the following commercial agreements.
According to this memorandum, Çalık Holding (or its subsidiary) shall carry out financing, engineering, construction, maintenance and repair works for this project as the investor and export the electricity power generated in Turkmenistan to Afghanistan and Pakistan.
While the technical, commercial and financial feasibility studies for the project continue, it is planned to transmit 2.000 MW electricity at the first stage and it is estimated that the transmission capacity will increase over time. Total length of the line is approximately 1.050 km; the line starts in Mary, Turkmenistan, passes through Herat and Kandahar, Afghanistan and it is planned to reach to Quetta, Pakistan.
