The drilling of the Güney Çalıktepe-2 Exploration Well, which is located between Diyarbakır and Mardin, at the south of the district of Bismil and north of the district of Savur, started on December 17, 2016 and completed on January 20, 2017, which is 15 days earlier than the expected 35 days. Bedinan streaking sands containing petroleum were drilled 2.2200 meters deep as targeted and the drilling continued down to 2.272 meters. During the drilling at Güney Çalıktepe-2 well, Bedinan streaking sands indicated high levels of gas and the results of petrophysics evaluations conducted between these levels corresponded to these gas values.
According to our evaluations, the thickness of the zone containing petroleum seems to be 20 meters. This is the thickest zone among Bedinan streaking sand targeted petroleum wells drilled by Çalık Enerji, or all petroleum wells with Bedinan streaking sands drilled up to date in Turkey. As a result of well completion works conducted in parallel with these conclusions, Güney Çalıktepe-2 well started operations on February 4, 2017 in artesian and water-free conditions with 550 barrels/day.
