The synchronization of the 2nd unit turbine took place at the "526 MW Simple Cycle Power Plant" that is being constructed in the city of Al-Khums in Libya and power generation started at the base load.
While the re-ignition of the project took place on Sunday, November 6, 2016 with participation of the Prime Minister of Salvation Government Khalifa Al-Ghawiel and other government officials, the power to be generated by the turbines of the 2nd unit will be synchronized with the available power distribution network in the month of November and put into use of the people of Libya.
It is planned to receive the temporary approval certificate of the program in the first quarter of 2017. Being the first project of Çalık Enerji in the continent of Africa, the "526 MW Simple Cycle Power Plant" is also the the largest power project in Libya to be implemented in the last six years and the only project, the works of which continue at full speed.
After the completion of the plant, the power to be generated by 2 GE 9FA turbines will cover 6% of the current installed power and will relieve the current 1.400 MW power need of Libya.
