Oil exploration drilling started on December 23, 2015 in Güney Çalıktepe-1 well, located between Diyarbakır and Mardin, at the south of the district of Bismil and north of the district of Savur reached the targeted Bedinan sand streaks at 2224 meters deep. Very high level gas readings were observed in the sampled sandstones and oil signs were identified in the sectioned samples. In the light of these developments DST procedures were initiated and high-gravity (40-41 API) producible oil was explored.
The drilling was completed on February 22, 2016, production works were finalized on March 10, 2016 and the operations started in the well with 210 barrels a day. A total of 10.000 barrels of oil were produced up to today. Field development works are on-going in Güney Çalıktepe.
We hope this latest oil exploration will yield to fruitful results for both our country and for Çalık Group.
