The simple cycle power plant project with 525.7 MW capacity, whose construction started in 2014 in Al-Khums, Libya has a particular importance since it is Çalık Enerji's gate to the continental Africa.
On March 9, 2015, construction works were suspended due to the security problems in the region. However, the engineering, procurement and logistics operations of the project continued during this shutdown.
Çalık Enerji is always determined to complete every project it ever undertook in every circumstance. As a result of this determination and several meetings, project operations started once again in late 2015. The credit period was extended until January 26, 2016 as a result of several meetings. In accordance with this date and agreed protocol, the aim is to start power generation using LDO fuel in early July and obtain temporary acceptance in late October. In order to achieve the targeted dates, all sub-contractors for turbine mechanical and electrical assembly, BOP mechanical and electrical assembly, construction and steel assembly are mobilized and a total of 526 personnel, 410 of them being Turkish, are currently working on the field.
