"504.4 MW Derweze Power Plant", whose construction started on July 12, 2013 by the order of the President of Turkmenistan, was completed in 26 months and opened by the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguli Berdimuhamedov with a ceremony with broad participation on September 12, 2015.
Consisting of 4GE 9E gas turbines, "Derweze Power Plant" is the biggest power plant constructed after the independence of Turkmenistan. The President, Vice Presidents, Ministers, Diplomatic Representatives in Turkmenistan, Chairman of the Executive Board of Çalık Holding Mr. Ahmet Çalık, and Director General of Çalık Energy Mr. Osman Saim Dinç, Director of General Electric in West Europe and North Africa Mr. Ricardo Cordoba and senior managers of Çalık Energy attended the opening ceremony of the plant.
The opening ceremony was commenced with Turkmen folk dance and the opening ribbon was cut by President Gurbanguli Berdimuhamedov together with Ahmet Çalık and Ricardo Cordoba.
Then, the President walked through the controlling room in the administrative building of the plant; received detailed information concerning the plant and started the power generation by igniting the turbines from the control board.
The President informed the participants concerning the project and the power investment in Turkmenistan. Moreover, he congratulated Ahmet Çalık and all Çalık Energy personnel for the successful and timely completion of all projects assumed. After taking the floor, Ahmet Çalık expressed his appreciation to the President for his unwavering support and his confidence in our company for this successful project. He also stated that he was very pleased to be serving the Fatherland Turkmenistan. Director of General Electric in West Europe and North Africa Mr. Ricardo Cordoba stated that they were very pleased for providing services to Turkmenistan in the power sector together with Çalık Energy and that they will continue to do so in the best way in the future. After the completion of the speeches, the President left the venue and the ceremony finished.
